National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Aboriginal Family Support Services are now providing NDIS services!

If you have a disability, AFSS NDIS wants to support you and help you live the life that you want! We have been supporting Aboriginal Communities in South Australia for over 40 years and we have all the experience and knowledge to help you!

What services does AFSS NDIS provide?

Support Coordination and Specialist Support Coordination
We can help you to understand and use your NDIS plan properly. We can also help to connect you with your supports and get the services that you need.

Early Childhood Supports
If you have a child who is 6 years or under with an NDIS plan, then AFSS can help you! We can work with you, your family and your child who has a disability. This support is given to young children who need it, early in their life, to help them build their skills, so that they can take part in everyday activities.

In home support work and community inclusion support work
We can help you to reach your goals in the home and in the community.
These supports are provided by a support worker, which can help you to become more independent and active in the community. We can support you in areas such as transport, shopping, cleaning, personal care and social activities.

Mentoring
AFSS mentors work with children, Young People and adults. We can build a relationship with you and support and encourage your growth. Do you have goals around personal development, social skills, self esteem or choices? If so, we are there to help you all along the way!

Based in Adelaide (but providing services across South Australia), Be With Me has a strong focus on supporting Aboriginal individuals, families and communities to navigate the NDIS to ensure that Aboriginal people with a disability have access to rich and full lives.

This includes facilitating access for Aboriginal people with a disability to increased social, arts, cultural, sports and recreation opportunities and ensuring they are able to contribute to, and benefit from, the same opportunities as everyone else.

How we can help with the NDIS?

AFSS Be With Me Navigators facilitate connections for Aboriginal people with a disability and provide assistance when required to apply for an NDIS Plan. This can include support clients with their NDIS application, gathering evidence, attending big appointments or connecting with advocates.

Be With Me Navigators can also help clients who already have NDIS plans to review and understand their plan and their goals to make sure they fit the needs of clients and help clients to connect with their current service providers.
